Lawrence J. Zimmerman was born in Providence, Rhode Island, and grew up in Miami, Florida. He attended the University of Florida and graduated in 1994 with a degree in Political Sciene. Mr. Zimmerman then attended and graduated from the Roger Williams University School of Law in Bristol, Rhode Island.
While in law school, Mr. Zimmerman clerked in the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office, and in the Providence, Rhode Island Public Defender’s Office where he learned first-hand the strategies and tactics used by prosecutors.
Upon graduation in 1998, Mr. Zimmerman relocated to Atlanta and passed the Georgia bar exam. In June of 1999, after working for a local law firm in Marietta, Mr. Zimmerman founded his private practice defense law firm. He has earned a stellar reputation for being an expert defense strategist and trial lawyer with an exceptional track record of success.

He also worked as an outside legal consultant with the Atlanta Falcons security team from the 2015 to 2017 football seasons. He received the prestigious Gideon’s Promise Award from the Southern Center for Human Rights for his pro bono work for the man accused of setting the catastrophic I-85 fire.
